I was very young when I spent most of my time with Marcus when I knew him, but this was perfectly fitting to bring out his big and fun personality. Watching him and my dad interact with each other and the other girls was some of my best times in Indian Princess. He always knew how to make the best out of some unavoidable mishaps that come with 20 dads bringing their daughters to the middle of nowhere, camping in nature, or staying in a cabin way too small for everyone. I remember on our camping trip to the beach where it rained heavily almost the entire time, all of the girls were a bit disappointed at first, but Marcus' energy made the whole trip way more fun than it would have been if it was the best of conditions without him there. 10 years have gone by since this trip, but I still hold this camping trip as one of my favorite memories with my dad, and in turn, Marcus as well. During all of the Indian Princess chants and ceremonies, Marcus was always the most passionate and loud of everyone in the group, despite being relatively new to the organization. He had the spirit of some of the longest participants, and brought a key energy to the group that would have been seriously lacking in without him. The fact that I remember him so clearly when I only knew him when I was a little girl shows how much he could easily impact people without even trying. I'll never forget my experience in Indian Princesses, and although I would have had an amazing time making memories with my dad if Marcus hadn't been there, he made the whole adventure completely unforgettable and so much more fulfilling for me as a little girl. I hope he knows how much he brought to this experience, and I'm sad I never got to tell him as an adult. I know Marcus will live through my own and everyone else's memories forever.
